University of British Columbia (UBC) partners with University of York, England

In 2010, members of BLP made the very first introduction between the two Universities. In the months following, the two Universities negotiated a University wide Mobility Agreement.

UBC is a public research university in Vancouver British Columbia. Established in 1908, it is British Columbia’s oldest university. The university ranks among the top three universities in Canada. With an annual research budget of $759 million, UBC funds over 8,000 projects a year.

University of York, England

In less than 50 years, York has become one of the top ten universities in the UK for teaching and research – and is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world. 13 655 undergraduate students attended in 2019. There are now over 30 academic departments and research centres and the student body has expanded to 13,000. The University’s prime location, in a beautiful landscaped park, within easy reach of the historic city of York, has positioned the University as a world-class destination in which to work and study. Several departments are located in the city centre at the King’s Manor in Grade 2 listed buildings, and since 2000 York has added 20 new buildings to its Heslington West campus.
