The Northern Gateway Pipeline

The $7.9 billion Northern Gateway pipeline was a project that Enbridge submitted for permitting in 2008.

The pipeline would carry diluted bitumen (“dilbit”) 1,170 km approx. from Bruderheim, Alberta to a terminal on the Pacific Ocean at Kitimat, British Columbia. BLP team members were instrumental in helping one of the largest Environmental consulting and engineering firms in the North America, position and procure a series of environmental contracts for the line. The work involved regulatory and permitting, pump station siting and assessment, and the monitoring for horizontal directional drilling involving two drilling rigs.
