The Centre is the UK’s first purpose-built centre for multi-disciplinary therapy programs for childhood disability and research of neurodevelopmental conditions. BLP Members were involved in every aspect of construction of this beautifully iconic building. From foundations to final fit out.
Purpose-built with autistic children in mind, the CICC surpasses current UK accessibility standards taking into account not only physical disabilities but also neuro-divergent disabilities which are not widely catered for under current legislation.
The centre features innovative ‘Butterfly’ design which reflects the charity’s logo. The building was designed with the input of beneficiaries past and present with the aim to deliver a facility which was fully inclusive. Features include quiet pods, a colour wall where visitors can pick their own lighting scheme and views of woodland where they can go on therapeutic walks.
